Set neck or neck-through like a 'real' Firebird?

Price? Link?

Guess I better go search around...

Ok, now I see 'em on Gibson's website...I like the sunburst one best, and the price isn't too bad (although watch - the lefties will be $200 more, like the LP's and SG's were)...but even the ones they have on their website have very noticeable seams on 'em - ugh.

Yeah I finally, found the Righty version on the Gibby site...........hopefully the solid type colors won't show the ugly seams. I have two SGs and the solid color Firebirds will be ok with me.

Well, the only solid color is black - not what I usually think of on a Firebird. It would be nice if they'd offer them in the white (like the Tribute SG) and Pelham Blue...

The Gibby site states the Lefty is also available in Silver Burst, I suppose I'll wait to see what is shipped to the stores. I'd go for a Silver B. Should GC receive any I will be able to handle one before buying. I may call MF & GC to see what colors they will receive should they have any control over the ordering. I have two Fender Lake Placid Blue Strats, those are enough blue colors for me right now.

I just spoke with MF; the Lefty Firebird in Silver Burst is available from Gibson....however it must be ordered direct by MF as they do not plan to carry that color version.

ZZounds and Sam Ash both show that they will stock all four Firebird lefty colors, and they are priced at $849.

I have placed an order for this Firebird ...in Silver Burst. Sam Ash has two more existing orders of the same. They say ETA 5-6 wks. best guess. I beleive it is worth the wait, even received a cut in the price. SA allows cancellation if delivery from Gibson takes too long.

I may order one through my local mom 'n' pop; they will price match MF and GC, and often go a little lower to help make up the tax you have to pay locally.

These are hard to pass up...don't know when Gibson will offer something like this again, although it is encouraging that Gibson seems to be putting out more and more lefties.

These Firebirds, are a lot more unique than the other Tribute 60s and 70s LP & SG styles. The twin blade mini buckers are supposed to have more resistance than the originals. I have actually had the chance to spend about 30 min. with a neck through '67 Firebird I beleive it was. My issue with it was the volume and tonal changes when changing switch positions...weak and muddled at the neck and tinny bright at the bridge....plus that baby had some seriously gawd awful large tuners on it. Anyway I am looking forward to this Firebird...probably will put some real capacitors in it and chunk the cheapy ceramics. Now to find a real Gibby Firebird case below 250.

Sad...Sad, news my contact at Sam Ash has spoken to the Gibson Rep. Gibson is just now starting to build the leftys. Three (3) months before any deliveries start arriving at retailers. I am going to keep in contact with several retailers to confirm the delivery dates. Should any of you guys hear any definate contradictions to the info I've gathered so far please post such. In the mean time I will put these on the back burner for a few months.

Well, the good side of that is more time to save up for one, and not miss out, in case it's a small window of opportunity.

I can wait - got plenty of other stuff to play and worry about this summer! Still want one, though, if I can swing it!

I'm just leaving my standing order for the Silver Burst active.

Yeah, I have a Carvin dc 127 that I am cutting a corian nut and doing a set up on.

I am also installing a 5-way super switch and PIO caps in my American '52 RI Tele, so as you do, I also have stuff to keep busy.

Time will pass quickly hopefully.

I see ZZounds pushed out their availability date from Aug 3rd to Sept. Did anybody get theirs yet - wondering if any have shipped yet.

The longer it takes for these to hit the market, the higher the likelihood that I can get one!

I just got an Ethos Overdrive Amp and in the next week or so a DR Z MAZ 18 head I ordered will arrive...the Ethos got built way sooner than they estimated - it wasn't supposed to be here until November or December!

I'm wondering if I should order now, or wait for some to show up in-stock. Problem is that they may suddenly arrive and ship, and I may be on work travel when it arrives. Yet there could be a backlog then they may not show up in stock. Then at some point they pull the plug, though I'm not sure these are limited edition or not.

Call Sam Ash and speak with Tyson see what he has to say...so far he has been the only guy that seems to be helpful to me. MF never returned my call....ZZ to my knowledge never spoke to a real Gibson Rep...just gave convenient speak, GC... I never have any luck with anything there....phone calls and emails are just ignored re: lefty orders.

Sam Ash says 3 more weeks for my delivery. Gibson starts shipping the "Silverburst" to dealers in a week to ten days. We'll see if that holds true.
