The prices on the quote sheet on their site says MSRP. Do these guitars actually SELL for those prices?

For example, the price for a base '52 is $4150. Does it really cost that much?

Thanks for any insight.

Dealer sets the price, MSRP is an acronym for Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, emphasis on "suggested".

I have never in 30 years see Fender actually stick to their MSRP. It's a marketing gimmick to make you think you're getting a better deal. Not trashing Fender, many businesses do this.

Shop around with stores that are Fender Custom Shop Dealers. The store with more high volume sales usually gets you the better price. And I don't mean guitar super centers.

Was the MSRP your price quote or what you saw on some order sheet online?

I got the pricing from the Custom Shop site.

I talked to a local dealer and they said the prices on the site are higher than what they actually sell for.

Like everything else, there is a retail price & what the stores will sell their goods for. This includes everything from bags of potato chips to Fender Custom Shop guitars to cars.

It's up to the dealer as to what he wants his profit to be and up to the consumer to decide if he wants to pay that or not.

I'd definitely shop around and get prices from several dealers. You'll find some cheaper than others.
