Bought a Nemesis NC200 amp today. Has a 15". Our old bass player had a Nemesis 2X10" and it sounded great. I haven't tried it out yet... Just purchased cause of the USA brand, and the affiliation with Eden. I gave $150 for it. Is this a decent amp and/or price?

I can't comment on the amp, but here's a link for others to look at:

Yep, That's the one. The Cab is a little larger than I'd expected, but that may help the sound too. I have an Avatar 2X10" I'm going to try with it too. It seems like Nemesis has sort of disappeared in the marketplace. I hope this one holds up.

I don't think they make Nemesis anymore, so that would explain the disappearance. I think it has to do less with quality problems (they are very nice IME) and more to do with Eden simplifying and trying not to eat into their own high-end amp sales.

Nice buy in my opinion. Let us know what you think of it when you get a chance.

I got a chance to play it, and I really like it. It sounds tight and focused, not floppy like my Hartke 140 watt 15". This isn't a high powered combo... only 200 watts but its real BIG for a single 15". About twice the size of the Hartke combo, but not very heavy. I wonder if the cab size has a lot to do with the improved sound?
I play guitar when I gig, so this will be my jam room bass amp. And I think it will do that job just fine. I'm glad I got it.

There are a couple of "rules" for people who have a "jam room" at home.
First, the owner gets to choose any amp he wants within his budget.
Second, the guest bass player can either play it, bring his own, or stay home.
============
For a practical matter, "I" sound like "me" on every bass amp I have ever played on, including loaners at jams, house amps at clubs hosting jams, and on stages at festival type events where the bass rig is "provided"...I never touch the settings (unless the last guy was absolutely terrible or over powering in volume), I just get up and play...I use my instrument's (P-Bass) volume and tone controls and get MY sound. I am sure nearly any other bass player does something similar.
=================
Yes, size matters (bass cabinet size, that is).
And while we are on the topic, I gigged for years with a GK400RB (200 Watts at 4 Ohms, 125 Watts at 8 Ohms) with an 8 Ohm cabinet....and later with an SWR Workingman's 160 (160 Watts at 4 Ohms, 120 Watts at 8 Ohms) using the same 8 Ohm cabinet and never had any problems being heard.
=================
All that said, I had a friend with a Nemesis and I came very close to buying it. Nice sound, reliable. I am sure you will be happy.
But, for the same price, you could have had a Hartke 1400/115...oh, wait...never mind.

Cab size, speaker used, amp electronic design all have something to do with it AND yes you are in the equation as Tony alluded to.
