Seems they have the same pickups as the Baja and the Baja is a well liked and appreciated guitar fpr the most part. Why is so much negative comments coming about the 2012 pickups? Seems to me the body contour and bridge might be coloring some peoples opinion of this guitar. Also does the rosewood fretboard have a skunk stripe??I am thinking on getting one but would actually like to know about the pickups. I have no music store here to compare however I am going to Dallas in a couple of weeks and I can find a Guitar Center. Thanks

I have a new 2012 standard Tele in Crimson Red Transparent with ash body and maple neck and fingerboard.
I am absolutely pleased with the sound of this guitar. The sound is great. It's a great Tele-sound with all the twang I need. I like it very much.
The body contour makes this Tele a little more comfortable than vintage style Teles.
Since I don't have the rosewood fretboard version I can't comment on the skunk stripe.

thanks I am going to order one today. All I have right now is the Classic Vibe Custom which I've done a little work on but have wanted a USA for a lot of years and can finally get one so I'm going for it.

"Since I don't have the rosewood fretboard version I can't comment on the skunk stripe."
There would not be a need for a skunk stripe on a Rosewood Fingerboard as the Truss Rod can be installed from the top before the Rosewood Fingerboard is installed. It is my understanding it was mainly adopted for the Maple fretboard/neck for easier (but not required) installation of the truss rod.

The pickups are excellent. Great mids and lows and sparkling highs. I have teles with Tex Mex pups, EMG pups, MIJ 69 Reissue with stock pups and have compared to the stock American 52 Reissue.
The CS Broadcaster bridge and Twisted Tele neck pups that are on my Baja Tele and are now stock on the new American Standards are my favorite pups to date.

Interesting to note that these same pickups (the Broadcaster bridge and the Twisted Tele neck) are the pickups being offered on the Wildwood 10 Custom Shop Teles. For $3400 and up...

I yhave RW necks on my USA Fenders and they have a skunk Stripe. I like the stripe as it disguishes the back of the neck.
