I'm going to add my vote for a Dr Z Maz18.
I have one, and keep thinking it's too much for home, but love it too much to get rid of it!

A sweetheart vintage Super Reverb could do the job for you. I would also look into a 50w Fuchs ODS. It will go from clean to singing overdrive. Order the artist footswitch and you can get all the options found on most pedal boards.

Our other guitarist is going for the Splawn!!!
From Fender clean to Dumble OD.....
Man, what an impressive machine!
Pedals are never an issue, plus throw on some Mogami cables w/silent plugs and have the best signal driving the system.....
Nuff Said!!!

The fact that the notoriously fickle Picnic chose to buy another Allen Accomplice should speak volumes. Right Pete?
Can't go wrong with an Allen if you're looking for a Fender blackface tone with the option of dialing in some tweed grit. My Encore is a great amp.

For the genres you mentioned you should be looking for a very nice clean sound as your starting point. Add some pedals for the classic rock stuff and you would be good to go. Unless, you can find a channel switching amp that gives you the best of both worlds.
From my experience Dr. Z's amps cover both of those worlds.

That's what I was thinking, too, Deacon - find the glorius clean tone, or maybe an amp that goes from clean to a little crunch, then do the rest with pedals.
the Dr Z's have been coming up a lot in conversations, and on this thread, but I would have to try some out in person because the videos I saw on their website sure weren't impressive.

No Buddy Whittington clips?
The Tracy Gunns clips aren't very impressive, IMHO.

OK, so I am not a Dr. Z. enthusiast.
They are good amps at a fairly reasonable price point, but they are not THAT good.
Lots of good amps out there depending on what you are looking for, but it is starting to sound like Dr Z amps are the second coming. I just can't stand the dog pile effect.
There. Just had to get that off my chest.

Well, Diogenes, what amp would you recommend?
I'd like to throw Tone King's Imperial into the mix, as well.

Vox AC30CC2 w/ Celestion blues.
I've got a stable of old very sought after Marshalls and Fenders, but the AC30 takes it all to a whole different level.

I really the Dr. Z EZG-50 "fenderish" amp. Or check out any of the Maz 18 reverbs, or anything by Top Hat or Matchless.
Any of those for single coils for sure.

There's a store not far from me that carries Dr Z and Matchless, as wel as all Fender amps, another place that carries the Fuchs Overdrive Supreme 30 Amplifier Head and a Suhr Badger 30. So I guess I'll need to search out dealers and try them out. I sure don't want to have buyers remorse after making a major purchase like this.

So, it's a matter of disdain for the accolades more than quality of the amps.

Hey Deacon, my current favorite semi-large and flexible amp would be the Matchless Independance, but if it were really my money, I would probably get a vintage Fender...Like one of the browns.
Heck, maybe an old bandmaster a cabinet and an old Marshall head I could swithc between ;)

Well, tough, because you can add me to the pile. I have a Dr. Z Z28 and it is just a phenomenal amp. It is the only amp I use on stage and I would (and do) use it for everything from country to hard rock and it does it all extremely well and at a MUCH more reasonable price than anything in its league.
