FDP Forum / Fender Guitars: Stratocasters / A friend of mine found out that "old Fender" he had was a '57 Strat!

I've got a friend who used to be a guitar tech in San Francisco back in the 60's. He even built a couple guitars along the way. But his primary career has been making films.

He was needing some cash to help care for his 95 year old dad and took his "old Fender" to a vintage guitar specialist and found out it was a '57 Strat!

You can see a couple pictures on the link below - just scroll down the page a bit and you'll see the photos.

Nice!!

"Helping a friend of mine sell his guitar. He wants it to go to a PLAYER, not a collector."

Why the heck would he care?

This seems like an ad to me. Don't mean to be a jerk, but I'm selling a guitar right now I could easily post a thread like this.

But I have not because it's not a cool work around of the rules here.

I guess I could see how you could take it that way. But it's not my guitar - and I'm not trying to sell it here. I thought it was a cool story, that's all. I'm running it past some well known players in Nashville and pretty sure someone in that crowd will take it.

Its not my guitar I have no benefit from its sale other than helping a friend out.

If the mods here think this is a sales gimic, obvioulsy go ahead and delete this post.

He was a tech in the 60's. He's been an artsy film maker who is on the very creative side. I didn't even know he had the guitar until he told me about it last week.

So anyhow, I thought I was sharing a cool story here - and it seems I'm being looked upon as a bit devious. A bit disappointing - and perhaps a bit of naivity on my part.

My apologies to all those who have experienced a negative experience from my post.

""Helping a friend of mine sell his guitar. He wants it to go to a PLAYER, not a collector."

I'm a PLAYER. How about $500? :)

EDITED to add that the :) means this is not a genuine offer and thus not a Classified Ad.

SSS, please send me an email (in my profile). I have a 50's something Strat, I think original, and would like to chat off-line about differences.

Thanks.
