Did you leave on the threaded steel saddles or change to brass (or anything else)? Big difference? I *love* the guitar but have never been a huge fan of the saddles.

I have a CS 63 Tele. It is a tonestick deluxe!

I made some compensated saddles out of brass rod. You can buy the saddles already made...and they are an improvement. Not only tone-wise, but intonation is better too. It's a simple mod that takes about 15 minutes to do.

I left the threaded saddles on mine. It has a different tone that i like. I have a CS 52 RI also so i like to have both sounds.
The treaded saddles are not as bright and punchy but they have their own thing going on.

I have a CS 63 Tele from '00, great guitar, and a better instrument than the genuine '69 I have for sure. I've changed the saddles on both to compensated brass. It's an improvement, although subtle.

Well, I found a nice set of Vintique brass saddles and made the switch yesterday... As expected, it's a solid improvement. What was already great just got a little better.

I changed all my Teles including CS Nocaster to Glendale saddles. Big difference in tone and action.
Not a paid endorser either, just know a good product when I use it.

Is Vintique still in business? Or are those old saddles?

Althogh not a '63, my early '68 had threaded saddles when new. I hated them, nothing but trouble. As soon as I could grab a set I switched to the next gen slotted type, which after its restoration are on there now. I actually prefer the staggered brass style on a Tele, such as on some of the reissues or like offered by Joe Barden, etc.

Tele war story: Back in '66 I got to know a guy named Denny Lee Edwards who'd played behind the Everly Bros and was a James Burton disciple. He knew of a place in Nashville that made those staggered brass saddles for everyone in the know.

I have a CS 63 Tele. All stock. See no reason to change the saddles. Strings up nice, stays in tune, plays great. Love the guitar.

I assume the brass saddles take the the guitar back towards a 50's blackguard sound.
