A Meinl TREjon, actually. Dang this thing is fun! It has a bass section on the front plate, plus two separate areas on the front plate for snare and/or tom sounds (thus the name 'Tre'jon). A bandmate of mine and I are going to try getting some acoustic duo and trio work with it - one or two acoustic guitars plus the Cajon.

But just goofing around with it and playing along with some mp3s is a blast!

Any other love here for the Cajon?

They seem like a cool concept.

Do you get a sore back leaning over it?

Actually no - no sore back. I've played it up to an hour chunk so far, and no soreness.

Our drummer has one and we have used it for an "unplugged" type gig we did. however, I did mic it so I guess we really weren't unplugged LOL. But used acoustic guitars with pickups instead of Solid body electrics...they are very cool drums! Sound great thu a PA!

Saw Kenny Loggins at Cain Park a summer or two ago. The girl who opened for him had acoustic guitar and bass and cajon as her band. Cajon was miced and the guy also had a high hat and one crash. The origins are in Flamenco and some Argentinian music or heck, anybody keeping time on an empty crate. They're being used in all kind of music now.Seems like Irish bands will play almost anything.
There are some good tones on the sides as well.

BTW I've seen them played while being sat on, either flat or rocked back and somebody makes a stand for one so that you play it standing up.
