I've seen a couple of the on-line dealers have dropped their new price to $1199. Has anyone played one yet, or better yet, has anyone bought one? What do you think? Recommended or not? How do they compare with an MIA Tele or a 52 RI? Does the neck have the rolled fredboard edges? Any info is much appreciated.

Love mine. Compares favorably to a MIA Tele, but with an ash body. I've owned 52 RIs and they're great guitars, but I like the modern features like the bridge, 22 frets, 9.5" radius, and a truss rod that can be adjusted without having to pop the neck. I also really like the finish--a little more subtle (i.e. less orange) than butterscotch.

I've had it for about a year now and haven't changed a thing except for the installation of straplocks. Guitar is fine the way it is, for me at least. And yes, it does have the rolled edges on the fingerboard.

I agree with Paul L.
I also love my 60th anniversary black guard blonde. The radius, finish, truss rod and the sound make this Tele my number one Tele at the moment.

How would you guys describe the color of the finish? On the many Ebay listings the color looks to be everything from a vintage white to a shade just south of butterscotch. Sort of a "butterscotch" lite. Some finishes even look like a "butter cream" - the sort of 70's vintage white look. And the same with the neck. Some of the photo's look like a tinted neck (not quite '52 RI) and some look pretty light.

Thanks for the help!

Here's mine. Pic has a slight greenishyellowish tint to it. I'll try to tweak and re-post. But how you described it is pretty much spot on--it's lighter and not as orange as butterscotch. Pale cream is a good description.

"Color of the finish". I'd describe mine as being much closer to a '57 Tele than any butterscotch Fender ever produced. I've owned two 52RIs and they were much darker and yellower so I'd call the color of the 60th Anny kind of like a washed out blonde. It's very lightweight and accoustically resonant. Fit and finish are very nice. I switched out the bent steel saddles for brass just for ducks. It's a very nice compromise between old and new and a great addition to my stable.

It looks much like the color of my Baja Tele. You should definately check out the Baja Tele. For quality of pups and hardware they are hard to beat.
