...The Lizard Legs Flying Dragon or the Creation Audio Lab Mk 4.23?
Both claim to be totally transparent, which is what I want. Both are simple, which I like as well.
I don't want anything that colours sound in anyway, as I have enough overdrive/distortion pedals that do that.
I have never had a clean boost and would like to experiment and see what they can do for me. The Flying Dragon and MK 4.23 appear to match my needs. When I finally purchase one, I intend it to be the last Clean Boost pedal I'll ever need.

I've owned the Flying Dragon and it is indeed a clean boost that will not color your sound. Great pedal!

For clean boost I've always been happy with my BOSS GE-7.
Delivers up to 15dB of clean volume boost and, like all BOSS pedals, it's bulletproof.

6L6 is right about the GE-7 and it's also possible to get several different types of boosts from it.
You can do exactly as mentioned and simply slide up the "Level" slider to get a flat boost, or you can alter the EQ at the same time (a little or a lot) by boosting or cutting frequencies. It can be great to make slight adjustments for different guitars or situations.
You can also push all the EQ sliders to the top for an alternate type of flat, clean boost. Or ... also raise up the "Level" control for a real punch, well beyond 15 dB !

If you can find one used, a Snarling Dogs Very Tone. It is discontinued but in the bypass mode it is a clean boost. I have one and have been playing with it and when switched on, the boost is huge.

++ on the Boss GE-7. There are lots of boutique "clean boosts" with exotic names & price tags, but I prefer the GE-7 or another real "sleeper", the Duncan Pickup Booster pedal. Either can be had for $50 or so used & do a great job. The GE-7 just pain boosts (and EQs if desired of course). The Pickup Booster adds a little girth and richness but not through distortion- really keeps the tone of the guitar intact. (I refer to it as adding some "juice" to the sound).

The Xotic EO Booster is very transparent, and very small! Hardly takes any room on your pedal board. I hear no change in tone at all.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up ordering a Flying Dragon. All round good reviews. The designer highlighted that he had never owned a Boost pedal so was not influenced by anything. He specifically designed the Dragon to neither cut nor emphasise any particular frequency range. The pedal is designed to boost the entire signal to sound exactly like what the guitar sounds like but more. It was enough to convince me. I also like the one knob simplicity.

The best clean boost ever made is the DOD FX-10.
It is obsolete. but can still be picked up used for about $50. Made to boost the output of piezo pickups, it is solidly made, clean as a whistle. It has a well voiced tone control.

IMO, a tone control on a clean boost will colour the sound. There is enough tone control on the amp and guitar (let alone effects pedals too). I don't feel I need more tone control, hence ordering a boost pedal with only a boost control.
It all depends on the needs of the individual, and my need is simplicity, zero colour, more volume that sounds EXACTLY like the guitar.
And I'm not boosting piezo pups.

I wasn't implying you were using piezo, just telling the history of the pedal in a way that explains why it has such an uncolored and clear tone.
The FX-10 works so well I've go two, in case one bites the dust. Tone knob straight up, there is no coloration. Run the tone up to 2:00, and you're in Rangemaster territory.
Of course you do what you want, by cheap, well-built and effective beats high-end in my book.

This little pedal is nice. I have also used it after a FT '69 and ODs and it works great. The newer ones have a "unity gain" setting - internal - but it works very well if that's what you want,
