Any opinions, experiences, good? bad? middling?
thinking particularly of a couple of new squier Teles, some reviews say the duncan designed tele bridge pups "suck" and yet the tele custom II with the p90's always gets rave reviews.
I dont want to have to upgrade yet another good tele with dissapointing pups so I'd appreciate opinions on the duncan designed (on the new teles they look like a 'real' tele pup, copper or steel plate, string etc)

I recommended a Squier Strat to the parents of one of my students, and I was able to get it from them to set it up and everything before she would be getting it as a Christmas present. This particular Squier model came with Duncan Designed Strat pickups. So I had it for about a week and have to say that once I had it all set up, I really enjoyed playing it and the pickups offered some very decent Strat tones.

The Duncan Design pickups are made in Korea with all premium materials. The single coil pickups have plastic bobbins, nearly identical to the Fender USA or Mexico bobbins. They also have alnico magnet poles. The Design pickups are based on USA Duncan pickups, but they have additional improvements like coil shielding and the pickup leads are shielded cables. When Duncan Design pickups are used in a guitar, premium quality full size 250k pots are also used.
If you don't like the Duncan Design Tele bridge pickup, you won't like the famous, treasured, Duncan Broadcaster either.
Some of the Squires have stacked noiseless pickups. I am wondering if the reviews are referring to a comparison between noiseless and true single coil pickups.
Duncan Design noiseless pickups will successfully go head to head with other brand noiseless pickups.
My opinion: if purchasing a Squire,I would seek out the models with Duncan Design pickups.

I had good luck with the ones that came with a Squier M75 I once owned.
Sounded much like the Gibson 490/500 set that came on a LP I owned at the time.

We got a Squire VM fretless Jazz bass with Duncan Designed Jazz pickups in it for my lady/bass player. There is nothing at all wrong with those pickups; great Jazz bass sound.

"Twangmeister,

It is, Malcolm.
Made in India. After hearing about problems with the quality of Indian-made Squier IIs I was a little hesitant but I'd seen some recent budget Jacksons that nwere made in India that were very well made.
Indian cedar body and a very nice neck.
The neck-mid and mid-bridge combinations sound quacky but a bit different than Strat quack.
