I have owned a house kit for about 5 years but have never tried to play. I had another basement jam Sunday and the drummer was a no show. A couple of guys stepped up and kept a beat so I figure it is my turn to try and learn a bit.

I am a complete idiot when it comes to drums and hope you can recomend a place to start.

Tommy Igoe’s “Getting Started On Drums” DVD does a good job of covering the basics.

Also, check out drummerworld.com for lots of free online videos. While most of the instructional ones aren’t really geared to beginners, they’ll definitely provide something to which you can aspire someday.

I ended up with Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials.

I always wanted to play as a kid and now wish I had started back then, having issues getting the 4 limbs to do 4 different things at one time now. Old Dog, New tricks -LOL.
