Hi folks,
She arrived this morning and all I can say is WOW!
Unbelievable guitar.
Only had a quick half hour to play and inspect before heading back to work, but I'm extremely impressed with the tones and workmanship.
Only strange features are that she arrived with a 3 way switch installed and the trem's floating. But she sounds so great I'm going to leave her floating for a while and not deck the trem as I usually do.
Cool guitar, and kudos to the Custom Shop guys.

Congratulations!
I take it you bought the guitar new?
Do you play any of Rory's stuff? I have just started listening to his music and so far really like what I have heard. I can't believe he was off my radar for so many years.

Hi!
Yes, bought her new, so i half expected the trem to be decked like Rory's set up. Played her for 4 hours straight last night and I can't wait to gig her now, such a great guitar. The middle pup is phenomenal!
I play a fair bit of Rory's stuff (well, I try to...), and have been a fan for many, many years. But my reasoning for wanting the guitar (except for its cool appearance!) was the many reports of its resonance and tone, which I'm glad to say are all true.
All in all, an excellent guitar - worth every penny and a great way to join the Custom Shop club!

Can you recommend me some Rory. I've got "Tattoo", which is really good and "Calling Card", which is OK.

The first Rory Gallagher and the second, Deuce,
are my favorites. Just watching the Irish tour
DVD last night.
Oh, and congratulations on your new guitar.

"The Essential Rory Gallagher" is a really good best of selection, features the usual sublime electric guitar work but also has a great selection of his acoustic slide and bottleneck tunes. Early stuff by Taste is also worth a listen, Irish Tour is also a must have (although the actual performance footage editing is a bit iffy). My friend's just received his copy of "Notes From San Fransisco" which is the latest release and is apparently really good.
He had such a unique style and take on the blues; I find his music quite addictive :)

Awesome playing and feeling git. I still would have to pop a set of the Rumplestiltskin pups in it tho!

You really can't go wrong with any Rory CD's but my personal favourites are Irish Tour and Live in Europe. Beat Club Session is pretty good too. His first CD (self titled) is great. Stage Struck, Meeting With The G-Man, Essential... all very good.
Rory was best when playing live. In the studio it was kind of tame, just doesn't have the same magic. Stock up on some live performances and you'll understand why he's one of the greats.

Ever since it's introduction I've felt the Rory is the best Strat ever made.
Enjoy!

Well, got to gig her on Friday night - man, what a sound. Could feel the notes vibrating through to my stomach! Played her through my Cornford Hurricane, using the volume to control the dirt from the amp, as per usual.
Lots of people at the gig thought she was a genuinely old guitar that had "had a bit of a rough life, hasn't she?"!!!! :) hahaha!
Great feeling and sounding guitar. Sweet, but ballsy and gritty when called for.
She's relegated my SRV Strat to a close number 2 slot for now (I really love that guitar) - but I find myself liking the feel of bare wood more and more.......
Just lucky to have so many great guitars to use :)
