Complete w/ switch, and W/O the 'road worn' look. Well, I'd nitro 2-tone it, bake it good and what ever flakes off, well... that's too bad.

I wonder how much of Herbie's tone was due to the string wrappings extending past the bridge?

All respect is due to Herbie Flowers, and the contribution he has made to so much music over the years.
However, and it's been discussed on here before, maybe his recall regarding the technicalities, and aquisition aspect of the bass, could by some, be described as a little vague, to say the least.
The bass is a re-finish.
The plate is a replacement, as is the switch an addition.

I think that every reason [or excuse] for the questions asked are fairly covered fairly well in the article. I mean, a factory re-fin is still a re-fin etc. And beats me about the back plate. Bridge doesn't seem right to me, either... But the idea of the switch (and it's placement)is pretty cool.
I still wanna build one,though.

Oh yes, It's a "cool" looking thing, but it isn't a factory re-fin, or an original LPB finish.
The article is mis-informed, but the photos are interesting.

Yeah, I know there's a lot of discrepancies, the more you look at it, and i believe it's really been 'doctored' over the years. don't know if it was a rattle-can paint job or if it looked that way after years of wood weathering underneath.
Oh well, it doesn't matter, it's too cool not to build one.
