The gold hardware - you're right, you'll have to special order it. Any reason you want gold hardware?

You might be able to find a lefty w/o gold hardware and get a better deal...

...otherwise, if you're doing a special order, do you know which pickups you want?

The 57 Classic seems to be a popular choice. It's what Johnny A has in his signature Gibson ... that's good enough for me!

I went down this road 7-8 years ago except I simply wanted a cherry one with standard hardware, the best deal I could find was $2600 IIRC. That was the equivalent of the RH price + $600.

I had 57 Classics and CTS pots put in my Epi Sheraton II and they are outstanding pups. I have compared my Sheraton head to head with two 335's and there wasn't a nickels worth of difference in the way they sounded and I much preferred the Sheraton's beefy neck as opposed to the thin necks on the 335s. Check out the pic in my profile, you'll find a beast that looks suspiciously like what you're looking for.

There is a lefty Sheraton available locally for around $550 new, but if I bought it I would want to immediately change out the pickups, pots and tuners...which starts turning into real money. In all other respects it seems to be pretty well put together...still a lot less than a 335, if you don't have to have the headstock.

Sorry, this is off topic from the original post; just following where this thread is going.

Got my 335 fix by buying a Tokai in Tokyo and carrying into the country. Electric guitars are not subject to tariffs(go figure) Been my goto guitar now, love the sound!
