I'm a Stratman ski bi di bi do

So I just recently bought a 65 Relic Strat in lake placid blue and just WOW. This seriously is one of the nicest playing/sounding guitars I've ever had my dirty little mitts on. When I went into the guitar store I was just window shopping and had no intention of actually buying a guitar. I ended up jamming on this baby for about 45 minutes through a vox tube amp. I went back to the store a couple more times to "check it out" before I finally pulled the trigger; Once I was absolutely sure the shop keeper was dead I walked out with a custom shop strat. Seriously though I'm so happy with this guitar. It's crazy how nice the pickups sound. The neck is amazingly smooth and fast, the aged yellow lacquer on the neck looks great too.
At first I actually disliked the color of the guitar and purchased it solely on the fact that it is pretty much the nicest playing/sounding guitar I've come across, but the color has grown on me and I now love it. Mine is a very light relic which I kind of prefer as this way I can do the majority of the wear and tear through years of use. The headstock decal is cool too, it's a fatter font with gold lettering.
Now I just have to wait until my new Fender Mustang III amp arrives, can't wait.
Anyone else own a 65 relic strat? If so what do you like or dislike about yours?

I bought one of the first NOS 65 Strats with Abby pickups in '98. It was the era where Cunetto was winding down and the Custom Shop was ramping up the Time Machine series. I bought it after playing it side by side with my real '64. The comparisons were uncanny in terms of weight, neck feel, pickup response etc. I sold it off a couple years ago in a herd thinning, but really liked that one.

If I needed another guitar, one of these would be what I would want. I do not play for a living so can not justify paying over a couple hundred. All my guitars are Frankenstrats. My Fav has aset of Rumple pups that Aaron wound me like the Abby Masterwinds. What a sound! Abby is a Master, so is Aaron. I should buy anothe set off Aaron for a future build. the CS 60 relic pups are also exceptional. I think they are the pups in the Rory Gallagher CS Strat.

I'm not the most experienced person when it comes to normal single coil pickups, I usually use lace sensors. I do however love the pickups on this guitar, they definitely can't do metal but can do some pretty hard rock.

I own a 2010 relic '65 strat in s/b. I agree-its amazing! I love the '65 cs pu's! They only made these for the 2010 season and to me, I scored big time. The finish is the best relic I've seen. The fender cs is so good at making a gtr that out of the box is perfect. I would recomend these gtr's to everyone!

I have a 65 NOS in black with a AA flame rosewood neck, I had special ordered for me through MakenMusic in 2010. I saw these guitars at Namm and I had to have one. The 65 pickups on it rock. Since these guitars are a limited edition for 2010, I don't know if any dealers still have them.

Those pups are something.

Do they have bevelled pole pieces like the 60 CS Relic pups?

I like the CS60s, but think I would like the CS65s even better.

I don't really don't have any pup gas since buying my Rumplestiltskin Abby Masterwind copies. yes here on the forum has a really nice web site on the 65 pups. It is at areyouexperienced

Wish they where still available. I would love to own one due to it been a "year of my birth" guitar. When I finally got the nod of approval from the Minister of Finance to purchase one, they had being discontinued.

Mine is a Wildwood '65. It has a 9.5 radius, larger frets and custom designed pups. I bought it used from a fellow that went to the WW shop and hand picked his. I bugged him from the get-go to sell it to me and he finally did (he's a Gibson guy). Great relic job on this one.

It is a shame that yes doesn't come around here anymore. I had many discussions with him about the CS 65 nrelic pups. Not to knock SMARK.
