I have three consecutive numbered Slingerland badges for my kit.

I'm trying to get as many badges close in number for the over-all kit when (and as) I find them. The kit consists of quite a few drums. Bass, three rack toms, two floor toms and choice of two snares.

Here's the *Stupid* question.

Should I put the three consecutive numbered badges on the bass and the two rack toms that mount on it? ...

or ...

Should I go with the Bass, one rack tom and one floor tom? In this format I could take those three pieces and call them a core kit with perfect consecutive numbering on the badges.

Ok I'll take responses, even if the response is, *Your an idiot for even thinking this is an issue* :)

Definitely not an idiotic question.

However — and I might be wrong here — I don’t believe that Slingerland ever badged individual components of their kits with consecutive numbers. In other words, any Slingerland “core kit” components bearing consecutive numbers when purchased new would’ve been pure coincidence.

So, as long as you don’t try to pass off the components as “never separated from birth” (or something like that) upon resale, I’d say do whatever makes you happy.

garp ... You are definately right about the badging at Slingerland. I understand they just had a bucket full of badges and grabbed from it as the drums came down the line.

These badges were said to have come from a single kit ... so if true it would be an freak coincidence or situation where maybe some assmebly line worker made a special effort (for some reason) to badge a given kit consecutively.

I can see a guy (not un like me) using down time to select specific badges and then sticking them in meaningful places ;)

My intent here is to make the coolest kit I can for my music room and no intent to one day pass it off as something it isn't.

I have absolutely no doubt that it will be the coolest kit in your music room. Just as FDPers in other forums here might obsess over period-correct saddles on their Teles or the proper positioning of foam mutes on their Precisions, I can definitely appreciate your interest in

Today I purchased another badge in my range.

I have all the badges (eight in total) down to a range spanning 57,000.

Range is from 270551 to 327739.

Five of those fall between 270xxx and 277xxx.

I realize it's really a stupid quest I'm on here on numbering, but badges are pretty cheap to swap around ;)
