Went on kind of a Strat/LP binge last week. Made me appreciate FilterTrons all the more when a picked the Gretsch back up. They sure are nice-sounding pups.

They be my favorite humbucker tone. Better than a Ric toaster tone. Not only can they jangle--they can growl really nicely.

You certainly can't call them muddy sounding. I love mine.

As a new Gretsch owner, it was one of the first things I noticed, I got tones I wasn't expecting, at all. I don't think Growl and tight crunch when I think Gretsch, but it's there. THe blacktop Filtertrons are great. I don't have experience with any other Gretsch pickup, but these are just fine by me.

The nicest tone I ever heard coming from me was an early 90's 6120 (the shape was sorta oval, not the current round bodies of today) into a Victoria Bandmaster.

The second was a 120th Anniv. Annie into my Vibrolux Reverb.

My next project is to make something like a 72 Tele Custom or Deluxe with the set of Filtertrons I currently have.
