Need something lighter than my EA combo.
Has anyone been able to A/B these?
Comments, opinions.
Thanks

Hey Tri0de
I have no experience with the MiniMark, but a Promethean 1x10 combo landed on my doormat a few days ago.
I got it to replace a Walkabout Scout I recently moved sold, because it was too heavy and unwieldy for what I was using it for.
Here's a copy of the 'review' I posted on another forum yesterday:
I've just spent the evening tinkering with it, and I'm quite smitten...
I can't fault the construction... Solid as a rock! No buzzes or rattles that I can make out. It powers up straight away. The tilt-back thingy wotsit underneath pulls into place with a satisfying click. The fan is barely audible.
Frankly, This combo doesn't feel anything like the cheapest in it's class. Quality all the way. It even smells like a new car!
The tone?
When I first fired up, I noticed straight away that it doesn't have the huge, fat BOOTAY inherent in the Walkabout Scout. Nor would I expect it to - it's half the size and weight. However, at low volumes, give the bass knob a nudge and it rounds out nicely, with significantly more clarity than the Scout. Don't like the clarity? Engage the magic vibe button and turn it until it makes you smile... one way for vintage and the other for modern.
Volume-wise, I'm quietly confident it'll be fine for acoustic open mics, rehearsals when I'm feeling lazy, and maybe small gigs with quiet drummers. I'll try it at all these things and report back.
I'll also try the head with the Bergs at a gig and see how it compares the the TC.
Other cheeky bonuses: The AUX IN & headphone facility is fab. My TC has it too, but you can play along with MP3s through the speaker, which you can't do with the TC.
Also, I can plug my iPod into it and play tunes on it when I'm entertaining royalty in the garden. It sounds great. So long, crappy iPod dock!
Drawbacks?
Umm... I found out the hard way that the signal chain isn't muted immediately when you switch it off. No biggie, I just have to be careful to mute it or wait a second or two before I unplug the bass.
And... the fitted case is awesome, but it doesn't have a top handle or side handles. Again, no biggie, but if you want to - for example - pick it up to carry it a couple of feet and put it down again, you have to do the whole 'strap on the shoulder' thing, or just pick it up in the huggy stylee.
There's a teeny-tiny bit of hiss when it's cranked, probably not an unusual amount. I think in any situation where you would have it at that volume a little bit of hiss would be the last thing you'd hear. At 'plunking in the living room' volume, it's dead silent.
Apart from that, it's fab.
So far so, VERY good... :-)

Thanks!
Jolly Beggers? I play a fair amount of ECD (English Copuntry Dance) and Contradances and that name rings a bell :-)
For almost anything loud I've an SVT and Avatar 2x12, but the Celtic band plays a lot of small clubs and such. My EA Iamp has died on me the last two gigs, and it's incredibly heavy, so perhaps new amp time and I know Carol Kaye speaks highly of this amp. Don't have anywhere to hear one so real feedback from a fellow such as yourself is very valuable!

I have no experience with the Promethean, but I have had a Minimark for a couple years now. The amp has surpassed all expectations of such a small lightweight amp. It has surprised many a band member when I turn it up, with a nice full deep, tone. I have not felt a need for anything other than the VLE and VPF controls on the amp as far as EQ goes. Used with an 8Ω extension cab this thing kills I use a custom built EV B-110 when doing medium size gigs.

Hi Tri0de
Here's a little clip I made of the Promethean to give you an idea of how it can sound.
