Well, I did a silly thing and sold my Squier '51 a few years ago. Then, after trying a Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster, I was hooked on this guitar. I recently got one, and here are some photos I took today.

Who would have thought a pine body guitar could sound this good? I am floored over how good the tone is in this guitar. It's remarkable. I do think it sounds even better than the '51 I had. Actually, I am certain of it.

My 50s Tele had a slight buzz on a couple of frets. After tightening the truss rod slightly and changing the stock strings to 10s, it's all good.

I find it's mainly a blues guitar for me. I have small fingers, and playing that fast country picking stuff is a little hard on it. It's probably because the frets are quite small. My older Indonesian Squier Standard Tele has frets that are a little bit taller, and also a thinner neck, so it is easier to play fast on. However, the tone in the Classic Vibe 50s Tele is far above the tone from the Indonesian-made Standard Tele.

It's a winner!

I should add that I found the Classic Vibe Custom Tele to be easier to play, but it did not sound as cool to me - meaning not the same vintage vibe - more modern sounding and less appealing tone wise to my old ears. Still a good guitar though - it all depends on what tones you like.

Welcome back to the "cheap" side, Robert. Thought we had lost you for good with your more expensive gear ;o)

When will you upload some videos with the new Tele?

Here is the demo of my CV 50. I set up my gear to be rockier sounding, although the guitar can to "the twang" too.

My AmDlx Strat and 78 ES-347 have been spending a lot of time on the rack since I got my CV50's.
Man is this thing a tone monster!!

I did slip in a Duncan Jerry Donahue I had lying around in the bridge. It does sound a little better, a little "fuller" but the original was just fine.

I got my cv 50s Thurs and wow what a nice guitar. Fri my buddy and super chicken picker Tim Wallis came by and tweaked it a bit, played for about 20 minutes. He was impressed at the finish and sound for such a cheap price.

Hey over at another forum there's huge excitement about a new color CV 50's Tele to be released very soon. Anyone know anything about this?

I just bought a second hand CV 50's from a friend who wanted to free up some cash for another purchase. I've owned a couple of American Series Tele's and have a 52 AVRI, and wow, this CV hangs with them both. I really like the pups and the playability is fine!

I was wondering if anyone had changed the pickguard out and had any pictures? I was thinking of either a white guard or possibly an Tortise shell. Not really interested in mint because my Strat is Anitque white/mint an don't want them to look the same. So, any pic's of different colored pg's?

Also, will any 5 screw guard work or does it need to be specificaly made for the CV? Thanks!!!!!

There's a thread on another forum (not sure what the protocol is for linking, so I'll keep it vague) with pictures of modded CV 50's. I can say that these guitars look really nice with white guards, and killer with tortoise.

Apparently standard Tele pickguards fit; no need to special-order or plug & drill anything.

Thanks man, I found and posted in that thread. I'm thinking Tortise Shell.

droo,

that body looks "creamier" than the "whitish" CV teles i've seen in the store. or is that just my imagination? i guess the white pick guard could make the vintage white blonde look more blonde?

whatever it is, it looks great and now i want the same thing....gas...

coachd - it's a bit of both. The pickguard and the actual color of the guitar. Yes it's a bit creamier than others I've seen in stores, but YES...the white guard brings out the banana big time! Next up, Lollar Charlie Christian in the neck.

Hi. I have a Classic Vibe Custom, and it is very nice. The neck is thinner than I would like tho. For those of you that have tried both the Custom and the 50's, is the 50's neck thicker? Thanks!
