It will not ruin the amp!
The speakers maybe....
This depends on what you have, type of cabinet, how loud you play, etc.

At studio recording levels/home use.....maybe. The BMR has a wimpy output tranny IMO. It does not do clean low frequency well.
I've had a couple BMRs and ended up putting a multi tap Super Reverb OT in each. A bass cab would be recomended. I'd also run a 12AY7 for a bit less gain in the channel you elect to use.

I have a 65 BM that I use for guitar and bass. I made a new baffle board and installed a 4ohm Jensen Neo 15 (100 watt) in the cabinet (you will fry the original speakers playing bass through them!). My SG Standard guitar sounds great through it but my SG Standard Bass (EB3) is a little thin. I grabbed a cap from my amp tech that I am going to throw on the normal channel to give it a little more bottom. My amp tech assures me that I will not blow up the amp, and the Jensen speaker should hold up as well. All of that being said I would not gig with this arrangement as a bass rig because of two issues. The first is I doubt the amp will keep up with the band. I have a silver face Bassman 100 that is just enough for gigs and has to be mic'd. The second issue is the old pine wood speaker cabinet. Throw a lot of bass at that cabinet and you are going to get rattles, buzzes and all sorts of interesting noises from it (personal experience speaking). Where you want a guitar cabinet to react acoustically with your speakers, a bass cabinet should be acoustically neutral, which is why most if not all are built from plywood or particle board.
I love the Jensen 15” in this amp, I love not having to keep a small bass amp around for impromptu low volume jams (this set up has replaced my SWR Workingman’s 10) and practice, I love the sound of an SG bass through a tube amp, but in the end this a guitar rig……
I hope this helps

I run my 78 P through a 71 BMR + an old Austrovox cabinet equipped with four 73 Celestion greenback speakers. Think of 45 watts of tube goodness! Not much bass frequencies but a whole lot of mids and highs. My P just sings.
