I'm just a weekend jammer, but I've recently begun working on my vocal chops. I'm starting to get the importance of breathing and singing from the diaphragm, and am practicing that with some success. However, once I get up to sing and play, I find my mind filled with so many things to remember (like playing and singing at the same time), that I forget to sing that way.

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Bob

Been trying to work up my vox too. I'm finding that as I practice singing in the shower or the car or whatever - without guitar in hand - that's when I can concentrate on voc technique.

As that becomes more natural on it's own, it starts to become second nature when I pick up the guitar too.

So I guess to sum up, what works best for me is practice guitar alone and vocals alone so you can put full concentration into it - then combine them and trust your muscle memory to take over.

Good advice, mrblues. Thanks! I'll keep working on it in the car.
