I'm "Branded"-- my stars are ripped away

Someone had to do it!

jefe46 talked about his ex trying to make contact and used this great line to describe her: she was "Fast around corners but not particularly reliable."

Sounds like a song to me. A couple of issues:
1.) The 1st verse makes it seem like a fleeting moment, but then in the 2nd verse, it a longer term thing.
2.) The bridge alludes to a "new" hot blond, but it can be confusing.
3.) Maybe need to work that hook in a little harder.

Fast Around Corners
(c) Emmrich 2010

(verse)
one time I hooked up
with a young sexy blond
she was built for speed
Couldn't see any harm

Before I knew it
I was losing on this racing track
I needed a pit stop
she took my car and never looked back

(chorus)
she was...
Fast around corners but not too reliable
with a couple of drinks she was pretty pliable
but once she shifted into higher gears
I lost all control of the steering wheel

(verse)
I guess I shouldn't had gone
running on all those business trips
left alone with the motor purring
no way she'd sit at home and knit

When I got back and saw my buds
I guess I should have seen it coming
cause I noticed it was our favorite tune
that they were all humming

(chorus)
she was...
Fast around corners but not too reliable
with a couple of drinks she was pretty pliable
but once she shifted into higher gears
I lost all control of the steering wheel

(bridge)
You think I'd learn
and you'd think I'd know
but something about this new sexy blond
makes me get in the car and go, go, go

(chorus)
she's ...
Fast around corners but not too reliable
with a couple of drinks she gets pretty pliable
but once she shifts into higher gears
I lose all control of the steering wheel

Nice work Kevin! It reminds of something that Joe Ely would write.

OK, A video!!!!!!!!! Man, it was impossible to do a full take with no mistakes (and with a minimal of goofy expressions). I had some takes with decent guitar parts, but I messed up somewhere along the way. Couple of botched things here and there on this one, but it was the best of the some 30 or so takes I tried. I guess I am not used to playing a song all the way through (ha, ha).

Fast Around Corners
(c) Emmrich 2010

(verse)
one time I teamed up
with a young sexy blond
she was built for speed
Couldn't see any harm

Before I knew it
there was wreckage on the track
when I pulled over for a caution
she stole my car and never looked back
(too many words on those last two lines!)

(chorus)
she was...
Fast around corners but not too reliable
with a couple of drinks, though she got mighty pliable
but once she shifted into higher gear
I lost all control of the steering wheel

(verse)
I know I shouldn't have gone motoring
on all those business trips
left alone with the engine purring
no way she could idle in the pit

When I got back and saw my buds
I should have seen it coming
cause I noticed it was her favorite tune
they all were humming

(chorus again)

(bridge)
You think I'd learn
you'd think I'd know
but this hot new red head
makes me get in the car and go, go, go

(final chorus)
she's ...
Fast around corners but not too reliable
with a couple of drinks she gets mighty pliable
but once she shifts into higher gear
I lose all control of the steering wheel

(Yea) there's no way to reform her
but she's fast around the corners!

Eliminate the words you don't need to convey the story.

FGP: Thanks for the visit!

Mark: Thanks for stopping by. The "car" seemed to be an important part of the guy's original post and it ties in with the motoring/nascar type theme.

The word car doesn't need to be present to convey the racing theme.

I like it Kevin! That is a great metaphor. I laughed out loud when I read the original post.

It seems all my Home Recording Forum buddies hang out over here too.
