So, I've considered buying a "higher-end" acoustic than the Guild D4 I've been playing for the past several years. But after trying several other manufacturer's guitars, I've decided to stick with my beloved Guild and make it the best possible guitar it can be.

Does anyone know where I can get specs for this guitar so I can scope out a few mods? I'm interested in what exactly the nut and saddle is made of, the tuners, etc. I'm somewhat of a novice, so I can't tell these things by look and feel.

The D-4 is a very nice guitar for the $$ you can buy them for. Most were solid spruce top with laminated arched backs and laminated sides I believe. There are a few with tops of mahogany or cedar I can't remember which but they are relatively few when compared to the spruce tops. The tuners are generally grovers three to a side and a nice reliable tuner. I don't know about the bridge and nut. There is a fellow named Hans Moust that is very knowledgeble about guilds and he has checked in here from time to time as well as the guild forum. Hope this helps a bit.
