My Kurzweil Micro Ensemble just blew up - never loved it's organ sounds anyway.

I need a module for playing live with zero bells and whistles and the following sounds:

1) A good piano
2) A good Hammond B3
3) Good strings

That's it - don't need samplers, sequencers, etc. And I think I'll screw up all the buttons that I see on the various modules out there. The XV-2020 actually doesn't look too complicated, but will the onboard sounds fit my needs or would I have to buy those expansion cards?

Recommendations?

IMHO, if you’re looking to buy new, the XV-2020 would be an excellent choice. It will suit you fine without the need for an expansion card, as it comes stock with a decent cross-section of XV series patches, including pianos, organs and strings. Of course, if you can possibly demo it before buying, that would be a nice insurance policy to make sure it fits your needs.

If you’re willing to consider the pre-owned market, check out the Roland JV-1080, the Korg X3R or the Korg TR-Rack (based on the Trinity soundset).

Thanks - grabbed a Korg Trinity rack off E-Bay for $321 shipped. The sounds I heard were very impressive.
