thats great. The jag / jazz has such a lovely shape, i often think my ideal guitar would start off with that body and then take it from there with everything else. That and the mustang.
Regardless of the quirks of various fender guitars, Leo Fender , after the telecaster (a beauty in its own way) seems to have really perfected the marriage of aesthetic beauty
and comfort. Iconic and so evocative of their time and could have been designed anytime since - havent dated at all. You have to admire those trying to come up with original designs but theres a limit to how far you can vary these basic templates in terms of comfort and balance. I mean theres no denying the popularity and good looks of gibson guitars for instance, but weight, balance and general 'playing a coffee table' issues are something you have to consider.
Oh, no i'm not a fender employee !

They have 2 additional pickups under the pickguard.
I'm going to build my own.
$6,100.00 is ridiculous.

I've played a few of those. Very nice playing guitars, a few different pickup options (they have a couple with SD P90's now.) I didn't like the tone from the pickups that were under the guard, but they do make them with normal pickup configurations.

Very comfortable shape to it, nice necks. I really liked them a lot, my two main guitars for years were a 62 reissue jag and a tele, so this really got my gas going. However, I didn't think they were worth the asking price. Maybe worth half what they're asking for at best.

Was thinking about putting one together myself, but I can not decide between one of these or a La Cabronita for my next project.

I saw Tommy Shaw play one at the Styx concert on Saturday. I think his had a Tele neck pickup too. Sounded great, as did the original Electric XII he used

I'm sure this isn't in the same league as the Fender but for the cost....

It just may be...

Close Enough?

I too stumbled upon these through the Makenmusic site. I was blown away by them, but the price tag didn't go down too well so i've taken it upon myself to build my own.

So far i've had the body (Alder instead of Ash) and pickguard made by a luthier here in the UK, a Baja bridge, USA Tele bridge PUP, 1985 MIJ 62 reissue neck, and all the hardware and electrics are USA Fender. Some of the parts will be arriving any day now, so will hopefully be putting it together next week. Can't wait.

Will be adding the PUPS under the guard and painting the body when i've got a bit more cash, but have the 5 way selector switch ready to hook up to. Will post pics soon.

This is the configuration i'm going for with the stealth PUPS:
