Nah, Brady really is great, but he's a different type of dynamic quarterback to me. I think Brady has some of the best feet of any quarterback to play the game. I don't really think of Montana as a 'feet' kinda guy.

I mean he has the same ability to stay cool under pressure and never be overcome by how big a situation is. He is also very accurate and has phenominal pocket presence.

Joe is my fav qb. If getting to, and winning the superbowl is the measure of nfl success, then you've got to respect Joe. Is he the best ever? That's like the eternal best guitar player question. Joe's certainly near the top of any list.

Truly one of the all time great owners. Year after year Eddie did what needed to be done to keep the niners on top.

He had a great sense of humor and never took himself too seriously--although he took the game very seriously.

Joe Montana was the best ever bar none! Personally, I rank Steve Young at #2 or #3 (or at least in the top 5), better than Marino, Elway, etc.

San Francisco definitely had some great times, and Joe and Eddie D helped make it possible. Man, the memories that come back when I reminisce about the Super Bowl parades down Market Street to City Hall. Great days!

Vic, I really like Brady, who grew up in my home town of San Mateo, CA, but he and Joe have one big difference: Joe never lost a Super Bowl.

The best Joe Montana Story is the one during Super Bowl XXIII against the Bengals. Trailing 16-13 with 3:20 left in the game, the 49ers had the ball on their own eight-yard line.

"Some of the guys seemed more than normally tense," Montana recalled, "especially Harris Barton, a great offensive tackle who has a tendency to get nervous." As usual, Montana was just focusing on the situation, how far they had to go and how much time was left. Just then he happened to spot the late actor John Candy in the stands. "Look" he said, 'isn't that John Candy." It was hardly what his teammates expected to hear in the huddle with the Super Bowl on the line. But it definitely broke the tension. "Everybody kind of smiled, and even Harris relaxed, and then we all concentrated on the job we had to do."

Quote above from this source.

I was never a fan of Notre Dame or the 49ers but I've got to admit I had a lot of fun watching him play.

No doubt one of the best ever. He and Bradshaw both won 4 Super Bowls... anyone ever win 5?

I recently watched a segment on ESPN about the sons of Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky and Will Smith all playing football for the same high school. It would make for some interesting Friday nights.

I was a big fan, and even more when I got to meet him a few times. Great guy.

My favorite Dan Marino Moment: When he was literally crying on the field after being sacked (again) by the 49ers during their Super Bowl rout of the 'fins.

"Vic, I really like Brady, who grew up in my home town of San Mateo, CA, but he and Joe have one big difference: Joe never lost a Super Bowl."

That doesn't mean very much. It's a team game.

Brady drove the offense down the field and threw a touchdown pass to take the lead with a couple minutes left. The fact that the Pats defense couldn't make a play to preserve the lead doesn't really reflect on Brady in any way.
