Hey does anybody out there have another one? I got mine off of e-bay years ago with the original hardshell case and the guy had put in the strap compartment a Guitar World magazine with Steve Howe on the cover and a review of the X-79. Mine is white, without the coil-tap, and in 99% condition. Not even a scratch on the black pickguard or even a dust bunny in the pick-up surrounds. It has the HOTTEST set of humbuckers of any guitar in my collection. And it still has all four points intact on the headstock. So who else has one? Any love for a 80's hair metal axe?

I have three X-79s and like them all. The pick-ups were made by DiMarzio and some were then labled "Guild XR-7", others just say "DiMarzio made in USA". Screamers and also sweet when coil-cut.

Have fun,

I just read a website that claims that only 172 X-79's were ever built. I now have another collectable!

What I have seen from Guild records is that roughly 1,700 to 1,800 were made. I think it was the X-80 that had a very small number made. Their body style was essentially the X-79 lines reversed.

Have fun,
