FDP Forum / Non-Fender Gear Reviews / Tech 21 Blonde + Blues Junior = Perfect

Not being a gain monster and deciding I had gone off the classic Fender + Tubescreamer sound I went looking for something Fendery to drive my Blues Junior but without the tubescreamer mid range hump as an OD.

This is a 100% analogue 'modeling stomp' that can be used well as a DI box and as a stomp and boy, it does it all - I can get a blackface drive, a Brown/Blonde growl and a Tweedy grind. If the drive is turned off it does Fender clean tones as well, it was nice to get a blackface spank on the BJr so instantly.

The controls are really sensitive - a small knock of a knob is enough to change the character of the sound. Also there is tons of drive in the drive knob, so it can do Tweed distortion quite easily.

I find that because its supposed to clone the Fender sound, it doesn't compete with the Blues Junior and enhances what is already there, which is just the opposite of the tubescreamer. One happy customer here.

Is your Blues Jr stock, or have you modded it any? I have been eyeing the Blonde myself.

No not stock - BillM modded to the hilt, but the Blonde's eq controls are very sensitive and allow a good range of tone shaping.
