#1 "HELLO CLEVELAND"

#2 Or, in my best Arlo impersonation.
"Microphone Check, Microphone Check, One, Two.
(and repeate)

#3 And on some occaisions I've even utilized the
"Aww, Thank you very much"
Done in an Elvisish tonal equivalent.

Although utilizing #1 in some geographical areas of the US can have an adverse reaction, while therefore revealing the sole purpose of the rather useful grid-like protective barrier materials that can be found inside places like Bob's Country Bunker.

I sometimes pronounce the vowels really slow followed by Chesterfield slow as well. While the crowd is laughing I hit a D, A, and E and end up playing "You Wreck Me" by Petty.

I make a "ch" noise to see how bright the sound is, clicks to hear the reverb then I'll say or sing something (anything!) but NEVER "check, check" or "testing, testing"

The hard "ch" and "ts" sounds in "check" and "test" are classically useful in testing the operation of a PA. It's all about hard sibilance and consonants. The reason for using "Check" and "Testing 123" are because it works and does so quickly. They worked 50 years ago, and they still work.

Our rhytym-guitar player was saying something off the wall into her mic. It was very rapid fire coming as it did without pause, very monotone. It seemed to make sense, until you tried to process it...and you'd trip over the words. It was kind of cool. I asked if it was something from Tolkien, e.g. some 'elven tongue'. She said no. It was "The Jabberwocky", from Alice In Wonderland (Lewis Carroll).
