David Ruffin form the Temptations -- his voice on "I Wish it Would Rain" is the be all end all -- track down that tune if you haven't heard it!

Also, Marc Broussard on "Take Me Home" is pretty killer.

And of course, Doyle Bramhall II, BB King.

Pretty much every previous entry here lists at least a couple of voices I have been deeply moved by in my 40yrs. We all seem to know who they are so I won't bother listing them yet again, but as a child growing up in the western suburbs of 1970s Melbourne (Australia), it was the mighty & untouchable Bon Scott who rocked my eight year-old world & now he's doing it for my two boys! Check out disc 1 of the recently released 'Plug Me In Box' dvd set to see what I mean. Yeah, its only dirty old three chord rock'n'roll but Bon could really write brilliant lyrics & sing fantastically (all his screaming was absolutely controlled & his onstage pitch never seemed to waver). Like Lennon, Hendrix & Zappa, he had that singular blend of talent, charisma & intent that only comes around a few times each generation & will last forever.

Hi I always loved the sound and tonal qualty of the voice of Rick Nelson. I loved the songs and the guitar playing of James Burton But I thought Ricks voice was very special and had a very nice quality to it. And I am guy who likes girls so don't think its the teen idol or his looks thing I always here people talk about .Although he had a some what limited range he had a very soothing quality to his voice and he could rock when he wanted to.

Cainer finally mentioned Doyle Bramhall II, and I agree, great voice. I'll add one more nobody has yet mentioned.

Mr. Conway Twitty

Long time favorites include John Fogerty, Bon Scott, Burt Cummings, Buddy Guy, and the blend of Lennon and McCartney singing some of their old tunes. Better throw some props out to the females too, namely, Aretha and Etta.
