I'm waiting on delivery of a NOS Tacoma DF-28. I think it's a prototype or custom order, as I can't find any information on the net, other than this specific guitar.
Couple more days...

I lovemy pawnshop prize. It's a 2001 C1C with the Fishman Matrix preamp and original case with the keys. It sounds great and is encouraging me to do some open mic at work.

Better late than never, I guess.

I have a DM9, I think it's a fine guitar. I may buy Tacoma bass or 12 string.

tdjay:

How did you get a tour of the plant?

Lots of old Guild types would love to get a look - the new Tacoma Guilds are getting great reviews, as we all know, and there wold be a line-up of NW Guild types to look around the plant/

"From the deep end, I love my 2000 CB10C - but it's going away soon. I have a new CB105C being delivered tomorrow.

Once I switched over to playing fives, going back to playing fours became very difficult. It'll bring someone else some joy!"

My experience with a Thunderchief 5er was less than satisfactory; don't sell the 4 string until you are sure you like the 5 string.

The 5 string I ordered was a fretless, but the neck was just a 4 string fretted neck with an extra tuner, a 5 string nut, and the fret slots filled in. No fingerboard, either. The strings were so close together that I couldn't get my fingers between them, and the reference dots were in the wrong positions for a fretless. Moreover, the B string was pretty much a waste of space when playing unamped. I had it for less than a day before packing it up and sending it back. I was really disppointed that Tacoma would cut so many corners in making that instrument.

I found a 4 string fretless 'Chief a couple of days later; it has a real fretless neck (glued on hard fingerboard and reference dots positioned correctly), and enough space between the strings for me, Happy camper, I.

EDIT: I just realized that this is a very old thread. Sorry about that, and I hope it worked out for you.

I got a Tacoma Thunderhawk BM6C with the 2 band Baggs Miratone pickup. It sounds amazing plugged in; monster low notes, etc...The problem is that when I turn the "Notch" control all the way off I get a ground-induced hum. If I touch the jack it goes away; just like an electric guitar without the strings grounded.
Anybody know a fix for this?
Thanks

I have an older BM6c Baritone with the Baggs Miratone pickup. When I turn the notch control all the way off I get a hum that can be silenced by touching the output jack; just like an electric guitar with ungrounded strings.
Anybody know anything about this?
Thanks

Good Luck
