I know the Unoffical site is really the official user's site, but since I spend time here on amp related issues (I own 3 Fender amps) and I own a Tacoma flattop, I thought I'd post.

I own a pre-Fender DM14C with the LR Baggs preamp/pickup - solid spruce top, solid mahog sides/back/neck, ebony fb and bridge.

The daggone thing still smells new, too!

I picked mine up when word had gotten out that FMIC was going to or had bought Tacoma, prompting some shops to blow out existing stock in prep for new Tacoma stock.

It's a great guitar and while it is bigger than any other guitar I own, it weighs less than any of them, including my Gibson electric archtops.

The tone with D'add PB's is crisp and bright, so it doesn't have that thick Martin bluegrass rhythm sound. My DM14CE seems to have been built for a balance of strumming and fingerpicking. I can see why real flattop players have several flattops, though.

I wouldn't mind owning one of Tacoma's jazz archtops some day downthe road, but for now, my ES-175 will have to do :)-

I doubt FDP will ever be a major rallying point for Tacoma owners, but here is place to start... yes, I did the other thread - Tacomas at home.

I'm in!

Pre-Fender Tacoma Chief (C2CE4 model -- E4 stands for Fishman Prefix Plus) owner. I purchased mine when Tacoma's were a "brand new" manufacturer; the shoppe I ordered it from wasn't up-to-date on the pricing, but once I placed the order they felt obliged to honor the 'advertised' price. Needless to say, I got it for a steal!

A local shop used to carry the Jazz Archtop model and I really liked it as well and would like to have one someday. They still seem to go for a higher price on eBay.

I know how to post links, but I was trying to get the image on the page. I guess the forum doesn't support that.

I'm also a great fan of Tacoma.
The guitars are just the best bang for the buck out there, bar none. The UTGF is a super place to learn and share about these instruments, and the members are a fine group of folks.

My current line-up includes:
CM-28C Cedar/Mahogany Chief
ER64NC Englemann/Rosewood Classical
DR-14CE Sitka/Rosewood Dread
DK-14 Sitka/Koa Dread
DM-28 Sitka/Mahogany Dread (Favorite)

I just bought a used DR38 a few weeks back. I now have no desire to ever own another acoustic, I absolutely love it. Along with my 1990 Ibanez Artwood AW60 those were the ones hand built in Japan and are also awesome if you can find one.

Well, as long as we're not talking Guilds here, I own a D46 Cheyenne mahogany dred built at the Tacoma plant for Washburn in '96 that's pretty darned nice. Sounds great and the build quality is just about perfect.

Pre-Fender DM-18 and DR-12. Both incredible guitars, with exceptional clarity. I sold a Martin AND a Gibson to buy my Tacomas, and have never regretted it!

Had the joy of touring the Tacoma plant last month. Noticed lots of D55s being shaped, glued, sanded, and finished. A lot of time being paid to detail. I was amazed at how much time is spent on the finishing process.
Fender kept all previous employees and enhanced operating resources.
Very pleased with my Tacomas:
2003 JK50C sitka/koa Jumbo
2003 Monterey Yellow Cedar/Walnut LJ
2004 ER52C Engleman/IR LJ
2005 ER28C Sitka/IR LJ

Still enjoying my DR14C after 2yrs... however I tried a DR55 at my local shop this weekend. Wow, what a great sounding and playing instrument. If I played more acoustic I would be very tempted to trade the DR14C towards it.

The maple binding was also a very nice touch. One sweet looking guitar.

From the deep end, I love my 2000 CB10C - but it's going away soon. I have a new CB105C being delivered tomorrow.

Once I switched over to playing fives, going back to playing fours became very difficult. It'll bring someone else some joy!
