Anyone for a Jaguar Baritone Custom (AKA Jag VI) megathread?

I wonder if we should petition Fender to rename this instrument the Jaguar VI or perhaps even the Jaguar Bass VI.

I restrung mine with heavy guitar strings (12-52) and tuned it B-B, so it's actually correctly labeled as a baritone, haha.

I've thought of doing that myself. I'm still waiting for Fender to put the OEM strings on sale in the US. They say it will happen after the NAMM show. BassVIist says that the LaBella flats are the way to go on a BassVI so perhaps I'll save my dimes and nickels and see how they are on my big cat.

Welcome to the loyal order, you can consider yourself knighted. :)

So, in a couple months when I get some spare time (and cash), I'm thinking about dropping a couple of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in my barijag.

(aka Jagbari. Jag VI. JBC. I dunno, haha.)

I'll be curious to know how that turns out. Of course by then this thread will be up to 5,000 posts or so but that will be ok because we'll be protected by our Secret Service Captain. :)

Count me in! I've played my Jag VI every day this week for no less than 45 minutes each time. It's a great instrument.

i'm thinking of moving some gear

if i do, i may pick up another Jaguar VI and refinish it in either Sea Foam or Shell Pink myself :)

i've got way too many projects going on right now though

but i want to have a Jaguar VI on hand...

i kinda like the Big Cat referrence
but i wonder how many people won't even get it...

I think about 7.
It's a better name than "Jaguar VI" though. I mean, doesn't the VI stand for the number of strings? Fine with a bass, but normal jaguars have 6 strings as well, so it's a bit weird.

I still vote for the Assmaster.

How about JAGUAR in all caps, since it's bigger than a regular Jaguar?

Hey are there any online pics anywhere of the new baris with the humbuckers and/or black finish?

Hmm, Jaguar Custom would inevitably lead to the acronym JC, which is a nice reference for those who feel it's the Second Coming of The Bass VI...

(Sorry, I'm a bit biblical today).

Hey Hot-Black; I'll call Fender on Monday and ask what gives on the strings. I'm certain that they will become available but the big question is ... WHEN??????

OK I've got to ask this question before I will even contemplate joing this group known as "The Loyal Order of the Big Cat" [TLOOTBC]

This big cat .. is its name pronounced as:
JAGWA or
JAG-U-AR ???

I've gotta work out if this is for real or bogus "Big Cats" ;)

It's spelled "Jaguar", but it's actually pronounced "throat-warbler-mangrove".
