smrybacki, well put. I too am past the idea of it being a special Anniversary model. It's just a special electric guitar, period.

longhair55, those are some excellent Strat models that you've let go while hanging on your 50th AmSe. It must truly be a good one.

Mine has never needed a setup with the exception of a truss rod tweak a few months ago. The action was getting a little high. A 1/4 turn later and it was back to near perfect. The only other thing I do from time to time is adjust the trem/springs to get it to float the way I like it.

Welcome back bros.

I hope we don't have top wait another 10 years to call our 50th a piece of history born here on the FDP.

I don't think I will ever depart with mine. It still gets a fair amount of play and I know my son is keeping a close eye on it...hopefully for quite some time.

I haven't eyed any other Strat for 10 years. I did play this past week a Jaguar while in New York City, but was not impressed at all.

However, I admit to a sin. I bought a couple of months ago a Tony Iommi Epiphone as it has been discontinued and becoming exceedingly rare to find. I was always contemplating the real Gibson Iommi but I could never afford it or justify the money, so I opted last minute for the Epiphone that I bought new but as old stock from Kansas City.
Honestly, the Iommi neck threw me off very quickly and I still haven't gotten used to it. I've barely played it and keep going back to my Strats, the 50th, EC and very occasionally the 79.

Glad to see y'all active and well.

I bought my AmSe in November of 2004 and still have it. I play it often, and it's definitely one of my favorites!

I just wish mine was lighter - it's pretty much the heaviest Strat I own.

ok,.. now the 50th is my only guitar.

I even thought about selling all my gear,. but couldn't part with it,.. still amazed at the total confusion about the '04 50th's.

I was told by a "guitar store" manager, that, after seeing a pic of mine,. that the "only 50th that was worth any $$$ was the one with the gold hardware (the Deluxe 50th),.. I gave him a "pass" since he plays basically only Gibson's,. but he does have a "strat player" working for him,. he was clueless too,... so I tried to enlighten them, on the 4 "true anniversary models",. but after leaving the place,. I doubted they believed me!

Yeah, the confusion about the 50th Strats can be frustrating. I occasionally respond to incorrect CL adds politely pointing out the mistakes. Most of the time I just move on.

I will soon be without a Tele. Just about any sound I want to get from a Tele my 50th AmSe does better, at least to my ears. I'll miss the middle Tele position a little, but a Strat can be wired to get the bridge/neck sound.

Thanks for reviving this great old thread longhair55.

Still holding on to my 50th as well. I remind myself that I first acquired the 50th with the gold hardware but was not impressed by its sound and looks so I exchanged it for the AmSe. The rest is history.

Thanks longhair and Viera for straightening the record of the 50th origins when you can. I too have seen many false claims on the Bay.

Mine is the first non-essential thing I would grab if I had to bail from my place in an emergency.

I can't remember the last time it was in its case. It's always out on a stand, on a wall hanger, or in my hands being played. The parchment guard and maple board have faded slightly, in a nice way.

Thanks for bumping this thread smrybacki. Enjoy both your 50th Strats.

Mine was bought in '04 -gets played regularly and has a few scars to show it.

How have your cases held up? My latches broke and I eventually ordered replacements from G&G. The nails for the compartment occasionally back out. By comparison, my other G&G case has had zero issues.

Alive and well....I mean the 50th.
It gets played not as often as I like but it's holding up pretty good. It still drives the DRRI and a few pedals. No major disasters.

Hope all the 50th vets are holding up as well.

Just read through the whole thread-whew! Played my 50th two days ago on my Mustang III on the ‘57 Twin setting...still a sweet guitar! I’m thinking of bumping back up to 11’s (I go back and forth from 10s).

Way to go bluzcat!

I also once read through this entire thread back when it was at about 2500 posts. I've kept up with it since then. It's easier that way. :)

I’ve kept up lately but missed a large section in the middle. Weird running across my own posts in the mid-2000s. Lots of “oh yeah, forgot about that amp”!
