Did Fender discontinue the Tom Delonge Strat? It's not on the website anymore.

At least the Squier version is still there- I don't know about the US one.
It seems weird that they would pull it right at the first of the year and just after the Frontline mag came out.
Maybe the webpage is just being worked on?

Yeah- they apparently *were* working on the webpage. That wasn't up when the original post was made....

Guys,
Here's the deal: We will be discontinuing the Tom D. Strat in the near future ... kinda sorta.
Right now, Tom is playing a number of different guitars on stage and in the studio. He also happens to be a heck of a nice guy, and doesn't want to make us mad by having a signature guitar while playing somebody else's during part of his show. Integrity.
So, Tom's deal with us just ended (on paper), and he decided that the respectable thing to do would be to not pursue renewing it. We all agree, it's a classy decision.
Now, we WILL make Strats with big headstocks, a single Invader and volume knob, it just won't have Tom's name on it. Right now, we are able to use his likeness to finish selling what we already have in inventory, but once that's all sold, we will take Tom's guitar off of our site and out of our advertising.
What you noticed with fender.com was premature, and we put the page and the guitar back up.

So there will be a guitar just like it, but no name association?

I know this is nitpicking, but you are talking about the MIM version? I didn't think there ever was a USA version...

Maybe you could have a 'Name the Tom Delonge Artist Model' contest every year or two. Something for aspiring young single bucker/single volume players to aspire to. You could put the winner's sig on the guitar, put their picture in Frontline, give them free gear...

Would it be too much to ask you guys at Fender to drop a tone pot somewhere? I like the look and I like Invader but need a little more tonal variation.

Mark Jacobs, buy a Standard Strat, do some work on it. Or get a fat strat, and put the invader in it. That would be pretty cool. Yeah i've noticed lately tom switches left and right, i saw him playing on a guild on tv the other day. Then i saw him playing on a gibson. Yeah i don't think tom likes that guitar that much, what about that black strat he is playing right now that could work.

Tom's getting older and I'm sure he appreciates some diversity. Not everybody can be a Malcolm Young and play the same guitar for 40 years.

The guitars he's using now are all modded: only 1 Invader and 1 volume work on all of them.

Yeah his work with box car sound much different than blink stuff. So that must be the reason for the switch.

The reason the boxcar racer stuff sounds really different is he used different amps, not his Triple Rectifier. At that point, he was still using Fenders almost exclusively.

yeah he used Hiwatt, Mesa and other (i don't remember). He split it together and that's the sound of it.
Anyway, he will have Gibson TomDelonge Model (ES-333) and it will have a number TD-333. It will be out in Sepmtember this year. And this is probably the main reason why Fender and Tom deleted their contract.

So, just to clarify: If I buy a Les Paul, will my Fender signature Strat be discontinued? In the name of integrity?
Crap.

Don't know about a Sig. model Gibson, but that has nothing to do with why we no longer make a Tom D. model with his name on it.
If the Gibson thing is true, good for Tom, I guess. He's a very cool guy and we like him regardless.
