Guitar Fool ... "amp quirky"? Really? Mine sounds great through any amp. FWIW, I play the Dually 80% of the time and the other 20% is just the Blue Lace Sensor in the neck.

BTW ... I am 1400 miles away from my Tele Plus right now and I wish I had mine with! :(

I saw a Tele for sale locally that I think is a plus -- tell me what you think:

3 pups (2 strat + Tele in bridge)
reverse control plate
tummy and forearm cuts
rosewood fretboard, sunburst body

Is this some other model? Fender Japan? What should I offer for it?

Hard to say without a pic bill...it could be a 1998 tele plus but it had 2 tele pups and a strat middle pup...

do you have a pic of it or can you post one?..

back to the quirky amp thing...I think of all the amps I've played it through, it sounds best thru a blackface...i have a tweed clone and an old gibson amp from the late 50's....it doesn't sound bad through them...its just that through a blackface it really sparkles...

My Tele Plus will turn 21 this year.

Since I last visited this thread, I have had a handful of people tell me that Fender did not make the Tele Plus in white with gold hardware a figured neck, pearloid tuners and with Don Lace (not Fender-Lace) Sensors. Then I open the case.

I'm usually a lurker on this site. However, I did purchase a Modern Player Telecaster Plus yesterday. I had been test driving Teles for a few months. Until this purchase, I have not had a Tele since 2008. I had my eye on the Deluxe Nashville. But I played the plus on a whim, just to see how it was. To me, with the available pickups, it sounded similar enough to the Nashville that it had to come home. Other selling points for me were the belly carve, 22 frets, the translucent finish, and the tinted neck. This isn't an over the top review. I need to spend more time with it. But, sadly, it has to languish in a case until my birthday next week.

Yes! Just like that one!

Times have been tough. After being recruited by a company and relocated to Oklahoma and then out of the blue let go I had to settle for a job at 75% of what I was making. Sold our house to get out from a $3g per month mortgage and took a beating ... but I kept my 91 Tele Plus, 88 Strat Plus, a 05 Deluxe Ash (which has a Lace Aluma T in the neck ... very cool) and my Larrivee Parlor. Pressing on ... have four interviews coming up ... and may have more time to "lurk" too! Hope all is well! Ron

the "Plus" was a term coined by Fender when they started making these in 1989....then in 1996 they went to a 3 pup strat type setup that lasted 2 years and then they went out of production..

many don't like the sterile, compressed sound of the Lace Sensors.

When played clean the can take awhile to warm up
to....
but when u all a little "hair" to em they come alive!!
they love Blackface type amps..

and yes... the tele thread is getting now respect these days..

So, has interest in the Tele Plus Version 1 died down a bit? Over a year since a post here, but I still see them going for significant money on eBay.
Mine's a '92 Firestorm Red, and it's one of the finest Fenders I've ever played. Happy to stand and be counted as part of the club.

yers is a rare bird indeed.... I see them on ebay now and then and people are asking an arm and a leg for them...

I have 2...my original 1995 red one and a shorline gold one I put together from scratch..

I'm still a big fan of these guitars....

it would be nice to see some old faces post here again...

Still have mine. It's not going anywhere since it's a '91 so now it's 25 years old and just beginning to venture into vintage territory.
