I was all set to spend 4 times more on a Rainsong, but for $400 I got the guitar and new fangled foam case. At that price I just couldn't leave it at the store. Laminated flame veneer maple back and sides, solid spruce top, bound flame veneer head stock, gold hardware with plastic pegs, gloss finish. The case is odd, but apparently it will provide good protection which is cool. All that and a fancy Certificate of Authenticity too ;-D .

A real nice sounding guitar and looks great too. A bit bright sounding but with good new strings and some time I figure it'll mellow out. Setup fairly low with no buzz at all. I also tried the Aniv. Cedar which was warmer, but I preferred the Spruce.

With the money I saved, I can go out and buy some more gear!

I played one of those recently at my local store and was really impressed. I would have bought it in a second if I hadn't already bought so much lately. It really has a nice tone, looks good, and $400 with a Fort case is a great deal. Congrats on the new acoustic!

$400 with a solid top is always a good deal. Can't think of anyone else who does that. Do they make an SCE version?

Not only is it solid, but they claim to have selected premium tops for this series, and from the look and sound of it, I beleive them. It sustains forever.

I was looking for a CE myself, but I really like this guitar and figure with the extra money I have now, I can buy a CE when I find one that I like. And I'm starting to get used to the foam case that was included. I like unusual stuff :-).

Jonzer, Musicians Friend were selling the Martin 00-15 with hard case for $499,- recently, maybe they still are. The 00-15 has solid top, back and sides.

Northern Rocker: I was just curious. I'm gonna stick with the Grand Auditorium design over dreadnaught. I have a Fender GA45SCE and I'm considering selling it to purchase a Taylor or a higher end Martin.

I was playing a that guitar this weekend and thought it was the best out of many I've tried.. I hate to get this comparision thing going, but I tried Martins,Laravies,Tacomas, and Taylors...I kept going back to the Seagull which I just liked better... Price was not a factor at all... Just the tone, and playability. There was 'something' about it,the feel etc.. The Seagull S-6 Anniversery was great...I cant decide which I like more though.. The spruce or cedar... They both had great points ....
I'll be getting one of them this month !!

I felt the same way. They both sound different and both sound great, but in the end, I prefer natural look of spruce model than the dark look of the cedar. The flame back and sides really sparkle and so does the grain on the top. The gloss finish is top notch. The fretboard and bridge on mine have a very nice consistent rich brown color. The cedar board and bridge were dull and the color varied from light to dark. You can't see the flame as well on the cedar either. I'm happy with my decision :-) .
