Tele-Head: Glad you are keeping the V-K. There is only one "King".

There have been many times when I thought about trading or selling my V-K. As a matter of fact I did sell it and re-purchased it LOL. That won't happen again!
I'm also happy to hear it Tele-Head. Also, check on a dolly. I have one and it helps, ;-)

I suppose you could say I am torn between Reverend and Fender re amps. I love the VK but the one 10" Reverend Alltone I put in it really smartened up the tone even more -- thus my attraction to the Reverend brand name. So ........ I ordered two more Alltones (they are being discontinued and blown out at ridiculously low prices). Should sound pretty nice, plus I'll have the original blue frames as spares.

Now if only the amp-related tinkering would stop!

Zen: why did you want to sell your V-K? I shouldn't even ask because we all go through phases of wondering why we bought some gear. I guess I'm lucky that at the moment I'm satisfied with my amps.

KAL,
Its quite alright that you ask. I got behind on some bills and the reverb went out on it. Just frustrated more than anything. The guy I sold it to is the guy I bought it from again. He ran a music store and knew that sooner or later I would be back for it. He made me some smoking deals on equipment that I still have. The number one factor was my wife saying hold off on the recording equipment you can get that stuff down the road and you can't seem to live without that amp. She's a real sweetheart!
Didn't mean to make this so long.

That reminds me of why I sold a silverface twin reverb I had. I bought it used and the reverb starting going out almost every month. Since I'm a reverb junkie that wasn't working so like an idiot I sold it for some Peavey amp (back then I wasn't playing much). Live and learn. I also traded a silverface princeton reverb away for a bigger amp (wished I'd never done that).

tele-head,
I read your comparison of the King and Hellhound on the Reverend thread, very nicely done, but I disagreed with some of your initial conclusions. I too have compared them both, and found that the Hound, although really very nice, especially for the price, can't touch my Vibroking vis-a-vis tone. I also replaced one of the Blue Frames, but with a Weber P10N. Now there's a really wonderful warm balance of lows, mids and highs. I'm glad you decided to keep your King!

How many of the VK owners here have used input 2 to chain other amps?
Here's an idea, Run strait in (VK) and send that tone (out of input 2) to other amps with effects.
I'm gonna give this a shot and see what happens.

KAL,
Sounds Great! Signal went from input 2 into Sparkle Drive to '73 SFPR. Adjusted volumes and it sounds well..........give it a try. :-)

I take the signal from input 2 on my '94 VK into my Boss TU12 tuner. This works perfectly, as it avoids putting the tuner between the guitar and amp, and you can still tune silently with the standby off. I didn't think of doing this until I read recently in another thread how the tuner can suck tone, then I re-read my VK manual and realised I could use input 2 as an output. I've owned this amp for 4 years or so, and never realised!

Mickey, I didn't know it until I read the "Preliminary Users Guide" (same as VK manual) again and what should be known as *PUG* from here on out lmao!
I've had the VK since '97 and I'm still exploring.
cool.......

Zen - the 2d amp output is actally what the FX loop in the VK is for. The send comes out of the reverb circuit, not the preamp, so you can run two clean amps (without overdriving the snot out of the 2d one). Doing it that way doesn't load down your input impedence, as opposed to the 1-2 input jumper. It's easier to hear than explain. Try it both ways and see which you like best.

Tele295,
I hope those questions made sense.
Thanks for your time. Another ? If the vibrato has that ticking sound, which tube should I replace? That answer might have been on the other VK thread that was deleted alas, I can't go check it.
Again Thanks

TF, I'm going to hold off on the speakers (Jensens) for now as I'm having work done on my vintage amps. I will get them down the road and let you know what I think about them.
